Newcastle United are set to retain one of their most important players this month after the interested club decided not to make another bid for his services.

Newcastle have a host of players who could leave in January with Kieran Trippier currently the hot topic of conversation, but a move for him now looks unlikley.

Journalist Christian Falk is claiming that Bayern Munich are no longer looking to sign the right-back after growing frustrated with Newcastle’s high demands in their valuation of him.

Bayern won’t return with third bid for key Newcastle man

In the last week Bayern have seen a loan bid and two permanent bids for Trippier rejected by Newcastle with the latest believed to be around £13m which was deemed too low for the Magpies.

What they truly value the England international at is unclear but Bayern aren’t willing to pay any more than what they have already offers to try and secure his signature and are now considering not even signing a right-back at all in this window.

Newcastle will now keep hold of their vice-captain, who they signed for £12m two years ago, for the remainder of this season in which they will be hoping to climb back up the Premier League table and compete for an FA Cup.

However, the long-term future of Trippier is still undecided with some at the club hoping to keep him beyond the summer while reports suggest they may look to cash in on the aging defender while they still can.

On X, Falk said: “The deal of Kieran Trippier (33) from Newcastle to FC Bayern is at the moment off because of excessive demands.”

Newcastle to make big push in second half of the season

With Trippier set to stay at the club, Newcastle and Eddie Howe may have to work with the same squad that they’ve had the last six months to try and get them back into Europe.

Champions League now looks out of reach but there’s definitely still a possibility of Europa League or Conference League which wouldn’t be a bad position to be in heading into next season.

If they can also have a strong run in the FA Cup with perhaps another trip to Wembley then this campaign all of a sudden looks a lot healthier going into the summer after some early disappointments.

Newcastle also have the likes of Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes to return from injury in the next few weeks, so there’s still plenty to look forward to for those Geordie supporters.
