Newcastle United’s dream January signing might cost even more after this weekend.
The Magpies are currently making plans for January, with Paul Mitchell under pressure to add to Eddie Howe‘s squad after an extremely disappointing summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Newcastle’s priority is to sign a right winger, and it has now emerged who the club’s top target is.
Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has been described as Newcastle’s dream signing, and he continued to prove why on Saturday.
The Cameroon international scored twice as Brentford beat Ipswich Town 4-3, with Mbeumo taking his tally for the season to eight goals in nine Premier League games.
His record is absolutely outstanding, as Mbeumo continues to prove why he is perfect for Newcastle United.

Bryan Mbeumo named in team of the week
Mbeumo’s talent is no secret, and the 25-year-old has won a place in Troy Deeney’s Premier League team of the week for BBC Sport thanks to his brace on Saturday.
Deeney was blown away by Mbeumo, and is full of praise for the man that Paul Mitchell would love to bring to St James’ Park.
“Every single time I watch Brentford I expect him to score now,” he said.
“It is a wonderful thing to have. A cool, calm penalty and also that cross that ended up going in, the decisiveness in the play and the decision to get on the ball and take on a couple of Ipswich players before delivering into the box.
“Yes, a little bit lucky it went in at the far post but he made it all by himself and I think that is his first time in our team of the week.”
Mbeumo feels out of reach for Newcastle United
Every time Mbeumo scores for Brentford, the more you understand why Newcastle United want to sign him.
But the more Mbeumo scores, the less likely it is that he arrives at St James’ Park in January 2025.
His stock is higher than ever, and Brentford will be incredibly reluctant to let their star player leave – especially midway through the season.
It is going to be incredibly difficult for Newcastle to strike a deal for Mbeumo, while the club will also be keen not to overspend due to the pressure of profit and sustainability.
Right now, Mbeumo cannot stop scoring. As Deeney says, you always expect him to find the net. He is showcasing the ruthlessness that Newcastle are lacking, and it would be amazing if Mitchell could strike a deal.
However, it feels very unlikely.
