So much has been made about Newcastle United’s pursuit of a new right-winger.
Indeed, it’s been the one position Newcastle United haven’t strengthened during the PIF era and, at times, it shows.
Jacob Murphy has been in fine form this season but it would hardly be controversial to suggest Eddie Howe could realistically sign an upgrade.
Newcastle tried to sign Anthony Elanga last summer, while Bryan Mbeumo has been tipped as a dream target.
Clearly, either of those would be difficult to sign, such is the level of wealth Premier League clubs boast.
Another name to have been touted as a target is Southampton’s Tyler Dibling.
In fact, Newcastle scouted Dibling earlier this month. There could, however, be a complication.
Aston Villa make move to sign Newcastle United transfer target Tyler Dibling
According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have in fact joined the race to sign the Saints forward.
They claim that the Midlands giants have made tentative moves to sign the 18-year-old, who has also been linked with the likes of Tottenham and RB Leipzig.
It is also added that the list of clubs interested in a move for the youngster is growing, which naturally complicates matters for Newcastle.
Though expected to leave Saints when they are relegated, his next club remains something of a mystery at this stage.
How much is Tyler Dibling worth amid Newcastle United interest?
There is huge excitement about Dibling and for good reason. To catch the eye while playing for that Saints side is some achievement.
Newcastle have wanted Dibling for years, such has been the hype around the player at youth level.
However, just because Saints are destined for the drop, it doesn’t mean any club will be landing him on the cheap.
Southampton value Dibling at over £55m, which would make him one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings of all time.
