Alexander Isak isn’t short of interest across the Premier League.

The 25-year-old striker has been on fire this season scoring 12 goals in 17 Premier League games while helping the Magpies climb to fifth in the Premier League table after a shaky start to the season.

His good form has caught the eye of Arsenal, the Gunners want Isak but have been priced out of a move in January – Newcastle slapped a £150million price tag on their star striker.

The Swede has caught the attention of others with Gary Neville referring to Isak as a “helluva player”. Now with interest mounting, Isak has thrown down the gauntlet to Newcastle on what he needs to keep him at the club past this season.

Alexander Isak wants Champions League football

Isak was part of the team that helped Newcastle return to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years back in the 2022/23 season.

He made his mark on the competition scoring against PSG at the Parc Des Princes in November 2023 but it wouldn’t be enough as Newcastle drew with the French giants and were knocked out in the group stages the following game.

Now, According to SunSport, Isak is willing to stay at Newcastle if they finish in the top four – meaning Champions League qualification is the target.

The report suggests that the Swede is desperate to play Champions League football, something Newcastle can’t offer him this season. Despite that, he believes that Newcastle can give him what he wants if their run of good form continues.

A silver lining for Newcastle is that fifth place could also be good enough to qualify for Europe’s top competition thanks to UEFA’s coefficient rules which reward the countries who perform the best in across the three tournaments.

Several clubs interested in Isak

It’s not just Arsenal who want to sign Isak, the report also suggests that there are clubs all across Europe who are keen to sign the Swede.

PSG are thought to be tracking Isak, while Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are both admirers of the 25-year-old.

Liverpool are also thought to be keeping tabs on Isak – the thought is that if Mohamed Salah fails to agree a new deal with the club they will turn their attention to Newcastle’s star man. They nearly poached Anthony Gordon while the club were struggling with PSR in the summer.

Isak still has three-and-a-half years left on his current Newcastle contract – after talks stalled in October, the club is hoping to revisit proceedings at the end of the season.
