Newcastle United’s big players have continued to shine of late.

Not long after Eddie Howe questioned some of his players following the Premier League loss at Brentford, Newcastle’s top stars found form again.

Indeed, their 2-0 victory over Manchester United extended their run of fine form and saw them reclaim fifth spot in the table, which could yet be enough to secure Champions League qualification.

There were a number of brilliant performances in Newcastle colours on Monday night. Howe’s side took an early lead through Alexander Isak before Joelinton added a second and, frankly, they really should have scored more.

In fact, it was only their sloppiness that allowed Ruben Amorim’s side back into the game. Had Newcastle been at it, things really could have got even more ugly for the hosts.

Watching on, Gary Neville was particularly impressed by Isak.

The Old Trafford legend stressed just how good a player the superstar Sweden international was when speaking on Sky Sports commentary.

“I’m stating the obvious here but Isak is a helluva player,” he said.

Not only is Isak a prolific striker, his all-round game is also brilliant.

Yes, it’s all well and good that he sits behind only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland in the top scorers list but goals alone do not tell the whole story when it comes to Isak.

The Newcastle United manager, after all, is said to have been mesmerised by his ability to dribble and dance around defenders.

Isak is an incredible talent, there’s little doubt about that. It’s hard to think of a better striker in the world at the moment.

In absolutely ridiculous form, Isak will no doubt be crucial to anything positive Newcastle achieve this season.

Neville is right to have been impressed!
