Whether it is with Newcastle United or somewhere else, Federico Chiesa could be a Premier League player next season.

The Magpies are looking for attacking reinforcements, and appear to be closing in on a deal for Harvey Barnes. But another player who has been linked is Chiesa.

The 25-year-old looks likely to leave Juventus, and it has been claimed that Eddie Howe’s side could make a move for Sandro Tonali’s international teammate. It was even suggested that Newcastle could pay as much as £43million for him.

Those claims coming out of Italy felt a little premature, especially given the fact there were no similar stories being reported by the British press.

Now the Daily Mail have provided an update on Chiesa‘s future, and it appears to paint a clearer picture about the exciting forward’s future in Turin.

Federico Chiesa offered to Premier League clubs

According to the Daily Mail, Juventus are looking to sell Chiesa, who is now being offered to Premier League clubs.

The report states that Aston Villa have been given the opportunity to sign the Euro 2020 winner, although there is no word on whether or not the same chance has been presented to Newcastle. You have to imagine that it has, with Juventus no doubt keen to benefit from the Magpies’ very wealthy owners.

They want to cash in on the winger, who currently earns £160,000-a-week with the Serie A giants. Those wages could present a problem for Newcastle, who do at least have an ace up their sleeve if they do decide to move for Chiesa.

The Daily Mail’s report adds that his preference is to join a club who will be in next season’s Champions League – like Newcastle.

Report casts doubt over Newcastle’s ‘interest’

That would give the Magpies an advantage over someone like Aston Villa, but this report casts a lot of doubt over the reports in Italy about Newcastle trying to sign Chiesa.

It feels like a lot of it has been agent driven, rather than Howe’s side actively pursuing Chiesa.

Obviously he is a top class player, but not one who we are likely to see in the black and white of Newcastle next season. And all talk of a deal should end if, or when, Barnes arrives from Leicester.
