Newcastle interested in ‘superstar’ attacker who’s already played with Tonali

Newcastle United are on the brink of signing Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, but he might not be the only Serie A player to head to St James’ Park this summer.

Tonali is going to be a game-changing signing for the Magpies, but it appears that the Toon owners still have big plans for the remainder of the transfer market.

There is talk about a deal for either Dominik Szoboszlai or James Maddison, but now two more major names are being targeted – and they have both shared a dressing room with Tonali.

Newcastle interested in Theo Hernandez and Federico Chiesa

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Newcastle are interested in AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez and Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.

The report states that the Magpies appreciate that a deal for the Frenchman will be difficult, while they add that the club have asked Juve for information about Chiesa. The 25-year-old has already turned down a transfer to the Premier League this summer, with Aston Villa making a move.

Newcastle will hope the prospect of playing under Eddie Howe on Tyneside will be more appealing, as they look to snap up at least one more superstar from the top flight of Italian football.

Tonali could be reunited with familiar faces at St James’ Park

Both Hernandez and Chiesa have history with the man Newcastle are set to sign. The French left-back has spent the last three seasons playing alongside Tonali at AC Milan. As for Chiesa, he and Tonali have represented the Italian national team together.

Whether or not those bonds could influence possible transfers remains to be seen, but Hernandez and Chiesa are two more very exciting transfer targets.

Hernandez is a very attacking left-back who could play a similar role to Kieran Tierney, who is currently deemed too expensive by the Toon recruitment team.

And in Chiesa, Newcastle could sign a ‘superstar‘ who is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line. His direct running style can make him impossible to stop at times, and he is a real joy to watch.
