Newcastle United could suddenly be scrambling for an Alexander Isak replacement amid the forward’s desire for a move away.
Isak is looking to leave Newcastle United, with the 25-year-old currently sitting out the Magpies’ pre-season trip to Asia with a thigh injury.
Newcastle United have been hoping to extend the striker’s contract, but were recently stunned by his demands. Geordie Boot Boys understand that Isak wants £300,000-a-week, which is almost double Newcastle’s highest-earner.
He is now eager to explore a move away from St James’ Park, with Liverpool and Al-Hilal interested in Isak.

Liam Delap will wonder what might have been after Newcastle United snub
If he does leave, Newcastle will have the unenviable task of buying a replacement. That honour could have gone to Liam Delap, who the Magpies tried to sign earlier this summer.
However, it was Chelsea who won the race to land the striker. They activated his £30million release clause, with Delap eager to move to Stamford Bridge and play under Enzo Maresca.
It had been reported that Isak influenced Delap’s decision, as he knew he would not be first choice at St James’ Park. In contrast, the feeling was he could be Chelsea’s main man up top.
Then Chelsea signed Joao Pedro, which immediately threatened Delap’s role in West London. Now Isak could leave Newcastle United, which would have left Delap to lead the line in black and white.
It is a case of what might have been, as Newcastle United fans nervously wait to discover Isak’s fate.
Signing a new striker will be easier if Alexander Isak leaves Newcastle United
Perversely, it will be much easier for Newcastle United to buy a new striker if Isak does depart.
Ever since establishing himself as the Magpies’ leading striker, it has been almost impossible to attract forwards to Newcastle. Whoever has been targeted has known they would not be first choice, as that honour was always going to belong to Isak.
While Newcastle tried to sign Delap and Pedro and made it clear they would play alongside Isak, they never would have been considered the main man at St James’ Park.
It speaks volumes that the only striker who has joined Newcastle after Isak is Will Osula, who arrived as a project player.
While it will be heartbreaking if Isak does go, a move away will give Newcastle the funds required to get the two strikers they need. After all, Newcastle are trying to sign Yoane Wissa amid all of this Isak chaos.
A transfer for Isak could allow Newcastle to really transform their squad, although most people associated with the club would much prefer it if he just stays put.
