It has been difficult month for Kieran Trippier at Newcastle United.
He looked certain to leave St James’ Park during the summer transfer window, and it was even reported that Kieran Trippier had requested a move away from Newcastle United.
The 34-year-old did not get his wish, with Eddie Howe fighting to keep Trippier on Tyneside.
Even when the Premier League’s transfer window closed, Trippier asked to leave Newcastle again amid interest from clubs in Turkey.
But Newcastle would not let Trippier go without being able to bring in a replacement, and that stance ended all talk of a move away – for now.
It remains to be seen what will happen in January regarding Trippier. It might depend on how much he has played for the Magpies, with Trippier currently acting as backup to Tino Livramento.
And if that continues, he may once again seek a fresh start at a new club.

Newcastle looking at Chelsea teenager Josh Acheampong
But Newcastle are not going to let Trippier leave until they source a replacement, which is why the £12million defender will be enthused by rumours coming out of St James’ Park.
According to iNews, Newcastle United have got their eye on Chelsea right-back Josh Acheampong.
They report that while Chelsea have stated that the 18-year-old is not for sale, Premier League clubs believe a deal could be possible due to the PSR advantages of selling a homegrown player.
iNews also state that Acheampong is viewed as a player who could become a full England international in the future, having recently made his debut for the Three Lions’ Under-19s side.
Newcastle planning for the future with Acheampong interest
Interestingly, Josh Acheampong has been on the Magpies’ radar for a while. It was reported in May that Newcastle were considering a move for Acheampong, with Chelsea under pressure to sell.
A summer move to St James’ Park did not materialise, but he remains an option for Eddie Howe.
And he is an option that should intrigue Trippier, as a move for the teenager could open the door for him to depart.
Right now, Newcastle simply cannot afford to let Trippier go. With Emil Krafth acting as a backup centre-back, there would be too much pressure on Livramento if Trippier were to go.
But a deal for Acheampong would give Newcastle more depth, and perhaps result in the green light being given for Trippier to join a new club.
Of course, that would be a risk in the short-term. Losing Trippier’s quality and experience would be a big blow, and he would be replaced by a player who has played just five minutes of Premier League football in his career.
It all depends on how confident Newcastle are in Livramento’s ability. If they believe he is ready to fly solo without the support of Trippier then this could be a good opportunity to bring in an exciting young talent.
