Aston Villa may have inadvertently helped Newcastle United keep Alexander Isak at the club.

There is constant speculation about Alexander Isak leaving St James’ Park, with the media obsessed by the idea of him signing for someone like Arsenal.

Newcastle United have been bewildered by all the Isak talk, as the striker enjoys an incredible run of form in front of goal.

The 25-year-old has scored 14 goals in his last 15 games, showcasing exactly why every club wishes they had him. But he belongs to Newcastle United, whose chances of keeping the forward are increasing.

Arsenal cannot afford Isak this summer, despite pundits arrogantly calling on the Sweden international to move to the Emirates Stadium.

But he will be too expensive – especially when you compare him to other strikers.

That is where Aston Villa come into it, with Unai Emery’s side receiving interest in Jhon Duran.

According to the Athletic, Aston Villa do not want to sell Duran during the January transfer window.

In an attempt to put potential suitors off, the Athletic report that Aston Villa believe Duran is worth more than £100million.

If Duran is worth more than £100million then how much is Isak worth?!

A fee of £150million has been floated, but you would argue that Isak is worth even more than that if Aston Villa are asking for north of £100million for Duran.

While Duran is extremely talented and has a lot of potential, he is nowhere near Isak’s level.

Isak has consistently scored goals since moving to the Premier League for £63million, and is already 10 goals away from equalling his tally from last year. He has got 15 goals in all competitions, having scored 25 the season prior.

Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Barcelona are looking at Isak, but they will have to admire him from a distance when you consider the fee that the Magpies could command.

The media may want to talk up the idea of Isak leaving Newcastle United, but the truth is that no one afford him right now. To Eddie Howe, he is priceless.
