The superstars will be out in force on Wednesday night when Newcastle United face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele will be looking to light up St James’ Park, rather than crumble under the pressure of the intimidating atmosphere that Toon fans will hope to create.
However, it won’t just be PSG who bring the superstars. Newcastle have plenty of their own, one of which was a major target for their Champions League opponents on Wednesday night.
Bruno Guimaraes has a chance to hog the headlines in the Champions League
If Newcastle United are going to get a positive result against PSG, they need their big players to deliver, and there are arguably none bigger than Bruno Guimaraes.
The 25-year-old is Newcastle’s talisman, and has been ever since his £40million move to St James’ Park.

The Brazilian has been a megastar from day one, and is now on the brink of extending his stay on Tyneside. Bruno is due to sign a new contract with the club – one that will make him the Magpies’ best paid player ever.
He is certainly befitting of the reported £180,000-a-week wages based on his recent form. Bruno has been absolutely exceptional in recent weeks, as he gets back to his best.
The former Lyon man’s confidence is increasing, which is a worrying prospect for PSG.
While all eyes will be on Mbappe, it is Bruno who everyone could be talking about after the final whistle. And if that is the case, it will serve as a fresh reminder to PSG that they made a major mistake in not signing him.
PSG wanted him before his Newcastle move last year
Over the past few months, we have seen Bruno be linked with a move away from St James’ Park. One of the clubs interested was PSG, but a switch away from the North East never felt likely.

However, PSG’s admiration for Bruno is nothing new. In fact, it was recently reported in Brazil that the Ligue 1 giants massively regret not signing Bruno when they had the chance, before he joined Newcastle in January 2022.
He was there under their noses, shining in Ligue 1 for Lyon. Now he is at Newcastle, and has the chance to shine against PSG once again in the Champions League.
