Newcastle United face Paris Saint-Germain next week, and will need Bruno Guimaraes to be at his best.

The Champions League clash at St James’ Park is going to be incredibly tough, but the Magpies will have some confidence given that the game is at home. On top of that, they truly do have some elite players.

One of those is Bruno Guimaraes, who is set to sign a new contract with the club. He is due to extend his stay on Tyneside until 2028, with the midfielder set to earn more than £180,000-a-week. That will make him the best paid player in the club’s history.

It sums up just how important Bruno is for Newcastle, and he is a player who clubs all over Europe wish they had signed before the Magpies got their hands on him.

And one of those is PSG according to a new report from Brazil.

PSG wish they had signed Bruno Guimaraes before Newcastle

According to IG Esporte in Brazil, PSG wanted to sign Bruno before the midfielder made the move from Lyon to Newcastle in January 2022.

The report adds that the Ligue 1 champions now massively regret not signing him.

Now they will come up against him in the Champions League – the stage that Bruno belongs on.

He battled hard and showed his class at times during the 0-0 draw with AC Milan, and he will be even more important against PSG.

As Nick Pope says, Bruno is a ‘massive’ player for us and is the one who makes us tick. If we are to get anything out of the game against PSG, we will need him to be at his best.

And if he is at his best, it will serve as a fresh reminder to PSG that they made a massive mistake in not signing Bruno when they had the chance.
