After months of talks Newcastle United have now tied down star man Bruno Guimaraes to a new contract according to Fabrizio Romano.
There has been lots of “will he, won’t he?” talk over whether Bruno Guimaraes was going to sign a new deal at Newcastle despite the player stating many, many times that he’s happy at the club.
It was never really a case of would he sign, but what would the club offer him, really.
Newcastle have tied down Bruno Guimaraes until 2028
Well, this morning Fabrizio Romano has answered the question by posting his exclusive on X which said: “EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle agree new deal with Bruno Guimarães, here we go! It’s done — contract until June 2028 #NUFC
Key detail: understand the new deal will include release clause and it will be in the region of £100m. Bruno, so happy to extend as he loves the club.”

Before everyone presses the big red panic button over the fact that there’s a release clause in the contract it’s not as big a deal as it sounds.
Yes it means that we would only potentially bag £100million if we were to sell when there’s a clear feeling he’s worth more than that in a world where Moises Caicedo goes for £115million.
It’s also a cause for concern for some fans that other clubs can now bypass Newcastle and approach the player directly.
However, the fact remains, and it’s even mentioned in Romano’s post, Bruno loves the club and has no designs on leaving any time soon. Just because other clubs can approach him it doesn’t mean he will accept.
As much as Bruno has openly declared his desire to play in Spain, he’s not likely to up sticks and leave at the first sign of interest.
Bruno will be at Newcastle for years to come
With five years now on his new deal, the ‘incredible‘ midfielder’s clearly going to stick around for another few years before thinking of moving on.

The reality is, at some point our popular players are going to leave. We’ve seen it already with Allan Saint-Maximin with some fans still in mourning over that sale, but as long as we are making a tidy profit and more importantly, replacing outgoings with equally as good or better players it’s not really the end of the world.
I still think we’re a few years away from dealing with the potential loss of Bruno, though. Let’s just be happy he’s committed to the club.
