The group of Newcastle United players that are training in Germany has suddenly got a lot stronger.

While some of Eddie Howe’s players are receiving an extended break following their international exploits, the majority of the Newcastle United squad are in Germany.

Newcastle have travelled to Adidas HQ for a training camp, making the most of their new partnership. First Newcastle get a lovely new Adidas kit, now they get to use their state of the art training facility.

It should be a good week for the Magpies, as they prepare to put the work in ahead of their first friendly against Hull City on July 27th.

The Newcastle squad in Germany includes Garang Kuol, with Howe giving the Aussie teenager a chance to work with the first-team. He made his Toon debut during the post-season trip to Australia, and certainly has a point to prove.

Alexander Isak arrives for Newcastle pre-season

But one man who does not have a point to prove is Alexander Isak.

The 24-year-old was Newcastle’s top scorer last season, netting 25 goals in all contributions. Dan Burn described Isak as ‘world class’, and now the striker has linked up with the rest of his teammates out in Germany.

When the Newcastle players first reported to Darsley Park for pre-season training, there was no sign of Isak. There was also no sign of his fellow Swede Emil Krafth.

The pair briefly represented Sweden after the 2023/24 season, but did not compete at Euro 2024 after failing to qualify.

Now they have linked up with the rest of the Toon squad at Adidas HQ, following speculation that Isak could actually leave the club.

Newcastle had no plans to sell Isak despite Chelsea interest

Isak was the subject of interest from Chelsea last month, but Newcastle stood firm.

It felt like the Blues were trying to take advantage of Newcastle’s PSR situation, but Eddie Howe and co were adamant that Isak was going nowhere. He was viewed as unsellable, at a time when the Magpies even considered letting Anthony Gordon go.

In Isak, Newcastle have an elite centre forward. They are not easy to find, and they are even tougher to replace.

That is why Newcastle rejected Chelsea’s advances, with Isak set to remain on Tyneside. Isak is happy at St James’ Park, and will be keen to enjoy a positive pre-season ahead of what should be another goal-laden campaign.
