Finally, Newcastle United’s first Adidas kit since 2010 is here.

After so much anticipation, the Magpies have officially said goodbye to Castore and welcomed back Adidas.

The infamous brand are back on Tyneside, with the Newcastle United owners agreeing a lucrative deal with the German manufacturer last year. Castore are out, with the club prematurely ending their relationship with the company that Mike Ashley partnered with in 2021.

With Adidas now in, the final reminder of the Ashley era is gone. This is a new dawn, and it is a deal that is massively going to help the club financially.

That is in part down to how many shirts they are going to sell, with next season’s home kit proving to be an absolute beauty.

Adidas launch Newcastle’s new home kit for the 2024/25 season

Fans got their first official glimpse of the new shirt on Thursday night, as Adidas released an incredible promotional video ahead of its Friday release. It included Shola Ameobi eating an apple on a bike, Alexander Isak walking a dog and Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall in the Strawberry, all to the sound of Alan Shearer’s narration and an incredible version of the Blaydon Races.

That got Toon fans in the mood before it was officially launched at 8am on Friday morning.

As expected, the home kit for next season pays tribute to the past. It is heavily influenced by the jersey they wore between 2001 and 2003 during the Sir Bobby Robson era. That was a lovely shirt, and the 2024/25 edition is just as nice.

Thick black and white stripes, a v-neck collar and the famous three stripes on the shoulders – it is simple but effective.

Newcastle United fans react to the new Adidas home kit

Newcastle United’s new Adidas kit has been worth the wait, and it will not be long before you see the shirt being worn all over Tyneside. There is already a mad rush in person, with fans queuing outside of the club’s new temporary shop over the road to St James’ Park.

One man who has already got it is co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi, who took to his official Instagram account to show off the name he got put on the back.

Alongside a picture of the shirt with ‘Ghodoussi 9’ printed on it, he wrote: “That’s my summer wear sorted.”

Ghodoussi’s Instagram post shows there will be a major change from recent seasons, with the numbers and lettering set to be black rather than red.

Fans will be desperate to follow Ghodoussi’s lead and get the new shirt as soon as possible, with so many Newcastle supporters expressing how happy they are with it on X following its launch.

“Adidas didn’t disappoint. This is beautiful,” wrote one fan.

Another shared that sentiment, tweeting: “Adidas have absolutely smashed it, from the announcement video to the kit – all so professional and incredibly clear of Castore.”

This supporter had a simple request, commenting: “Take my money.”

“Class. Can we skip the Euros and just fast forward to our first home game in August please?” asked one fan who is desperate to see Eddie Howe’s players don the new kit.

“Ordered, favourite kit for years,” wrote one fan who has already placed his order.

And finally, this member of the Toon Army summed it up by writing: “A beauty.”

It truly is a beautiful shirt, and it will be exciting to see what else Adidas offer for next season. Next on the agenda will be the away kits, and they should be just as popular if the rumours are true.
