In the wake of England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, Newcastle United are on their way to Germany.
While Newcastle United players Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon are reflecting on the disappointment of Berlin, their Toon teammates are heading to the same country for a different challenge.
Pre-season is very much underway, with Eddie Howe’s players linking back up at the training ground late last week.
The likes of Joelinton and Joe Willock are back, while there are fresh faces involved too, with Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy ready to get to work with Newcastle United.

Newcastle United head to Adidas HQ in Germany
The Magpies’ pre-season starts with a trip to Germany, with Newcastle set to spend the week at Adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach.
Newcastle have their new Adidas kit, and now they are training at the German brand’s facility that was used by the Germany national team during Euro 2024.
There are plenty of Toon players who are not making the trip – notably those that have been competing at major international tournaments such as Bruno Guimaraes, Miguel Almiron, Fabian Schar and Martin Dubravka.
Newcastle’s two England players also will not be present, as they prepare to leave Germany after their defeat in the final.
Garang Kuol travels with Newcastle Untied first-team
But the trip does include Garang Kuol, who has been pictured travelling to Germany with the rest of the Newcastle United squad.
The club have released a selection of images of the players and staff setting off from Newcastle airport, with the likes of Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes boarding a plane to Germany.
And they are joined by Garang Kuol, the Aussie teenager who made his first Toon appearance in the club’s post-season trip to Australia.
Kuol made two appearances for Newcastle down under, and was obviously part of the tour for commercial reasons.

But now the 19-year-old is travelling with the first-team for pre-season, as Howe prepares his players for what is a massively important 2024/25 campaign.
It is also an important year for Kuol, as he has endured two disappointing loan spells since becoming a Newcastle United player. His future is up in the air, and he should really benefit from the exposure of training with the first-team out in Germany.
It feels likely that multiple Toon youngsters are making the trip, as Jamie Miley has also been pictured. Regardless, it is a good opportunity for Kuol, whose stock has sadly dropped since his much hyped £300,000 move to Tyneside from Central Coast Mariners.
