Newcastle United have signed someone really special in Tino Livramento, and a player who could be a future England international.
The Magpies invested a huge amount of Livramento during the summer, paying Southampton £32million for what was effectively a backup right-back.
Livramento was brought in to provide cover for Kieran Trippier, who was always going to remain Newcastle‘s undisputed right-back. But Trippier is 33-years-old now, and can’t play every week.
That is why Eddie Howe wanted stronger cover, and in Livramento he has definitely got that. And he has also got Trippier’s replacement for when that time comes.
Despite being an understudy, the 21-year-old is already a fan favourite on Tyneside. He was exceptional in the Carabao Cup wins over Manchester City and Manchester United, while he also impressed in the recent Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund.
Livramento is thriving in the present as well as being brought in for the future, which is why Newcastle fans absolutely love him already.
He is going to be a mainstay in this Newcastle team in the coming years, and he could also go on to become a full England international.

How people with the England setup feel about Tino Livramento
Livramento is currently away on international duty, representing the England Under-21s. And according to the Athletic’s Jacob Whitehead on the latest episode of Pod On The Tyne, people within the England setup are really impressed with the defender and think he could make it all the way to the senior side.
“I was speaking to some people involved in the England setup a couple of weeks ago,” he said.
“They were really impressed with how Livramento has been dealing with the step up after missing a year – he basically skipped an international year to be playing with the Under-21s.
They see him as really promising. Even with this absolute glut of right-backs that England have, they see him as potentially having a role in the senior side in the future, years down the line.”
Signing Livramento was such a sensible decision by Newcastle
Given how talented Livramento is, it would be no surprise to see him become a full England international in the future. He is so exciting to watch from an offensive point of view, while he is only going to keep getting better defensively as he continues working with Kieran Trippier.
He is a player with so much potential, which is why Newcastle were willing to spend so much money on him. They were looking towards the future, which was such a sensible decision that is already paying off.
It is great to hear that Livramento is making a good impression at international level, just like he is for his club. He is impressing all the right people, and that includes the Toon Army who continue to shower him with cries of ‘Tino! Tino! Tino!’.
