Lewis Hall has gone from strength to strength since joining Newcastle United from Chelsea.

Newcastle United rolled the dice when they agreed a big-money deal with Chelsea for an 18-year-old Lewis Hall.

He initially moved to Tyneside on a loan deal but Hall’s move was made permanent this summer for £28m.

Hall had to be patient during his debut season at Newcastle, spending the first half of the campaign as a substitute before getting a run of games towards the business end of the calendar.

This season, Hall has been a regular starter and one of Newcastle’s brightest players. Howe has praised Hall’s attitude and his work rate has been rewarded this week.

Lewis Hall receives first senior England call-up

Lee Carsley named his 26-man squad for the November internationals – the final block of fixtures before Thomas Tuchel takes charge of the Three Lions.

Newcastle fans were split over the England squad, with supporters delighted for Hall’s first call-up but disappointed that Tino Livramento and Nick Pope missed out.

Anthony Gordon was the only other Newcastle player called up to the squad, but he may drop out after suffering a hip injury against Nottingham Forest.

Carsley raved about Hall after calling him up to the England squad, praising his “great” left foot.

Hall will hope to make his England debut later this week when the Three Lions face Greece in the Nations League on Thursday evening.

Does Newcastle owe Chelsea bonuses after Lewis Hall call-up?

Geordie Boot Boys spoke to transfer specialist Graeme Bailey after Hall’s call-up, and he cleared up the details around the agreement between Chelsea and Newcastle.

The agreement between Chelsea and Newcastle was for an initial £28m but included add-ons that could rise to £35m.

Bailey confirmed that there are no bonus clauses attached to Lewis Hall’s deal associated with his first international call-up.

It means Newcastle will not have to pay out any extra cash after Hall’s first England call-up.
