What Eddie Howe has told Newcastle ‘machine’ amid talks with the club

The prospect of losing key players has not really been something Newcastle United have had to deal with since the takeover.

Naturally, the influx of PIF’s millions have meant the stories surrounding Newcastle have been of what big names may be coming into the club.

Still, things have changed of late as the Magpies try to work within FFP constraints.

Indeed, Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier have been touted for exits on the playing side, while Dan Ashworth has been tipped to leave off the field.

Amazingly, Joelinton is another.

Hailed as a “machine” by Trippier, the 27-year-old will be out of contract in the summer of 2025 and could reportedly be sold at the end of this season should he fail to agree a new one.

Joelinton: What Eddie Howe has told Newcastle star amid contract talks

However, according to The Chronicle, Eddie Howe has already delivered his verdict on the prospect of selling Joelinton.

They report that the Newcastle manager has told the Brazilian that he will play a big part in the next phase of the club’s development.

Joelinton is said to be in talks with the club over a new deal and is happy on Tyneside, albeit there is yet to have been a resolution.

Joelinton: Newcastle would be foolish to sell star

While selling the former Hoffenheim star may help on the FFP front, it would be a major disappointment to see him go.

Arguably the one player who best epitomises the turnaround under Howe having struggled so much during the Steve Bruce years, the £40m star has so much more to give.

Able to operate in central midfield as well as out wide, he has been a driving force during what has otherwise been a difficult campaign.

Selling him after such a marked improvement would be foolish.
