Newcastle United are trying to negotiate a new contract with Anthony Gordon.
The winger’s current deal expires in the summer of 2026, while Newcastle United are keen to show Anthony Gordon how appreciated he is following a sensational 2023/24 season and a failed transfer to Liverpool.
It has been an unsettling few months on Tyneside for Gordon, and the hope is that a fresh contract will smooth things over.
It was reported after Euro 2024 that Newcastle were keen to hold contract talks with Gordon, and now there is a real desire behind the scenes to sort out a new deal.
Newcastle’s current priority is Gordon’s contract, while Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Gordon is open to signing a new deal.

How Anthony Gordon feels about current contract talks with Newcastle United
However, there are currently a couple of issues with regards to the £40million man putting pen to paper over a new deal.
According to the Telegraph, people close to Gordon believe that progress over a new Newcastle United deal is slow.
They add that, while both parties are keen for a positive conclusion to these talks, Gordon currently feels as if his ‘true value’ is not being reflected by the terms that Newcastle United are offering.
What has been reported about Newcastle’s offer to Anthony Gordon
That is a complete contrast to what was reported about Gordon’s potential contract last week.
The Daily Mail stated that Newcastle are willing to make Gordon their best paid player, with Toon officials ready to offer wages that would surpass what Bruno Guimaraes earns at St James’ Park.
That is where this does not add up. How can your ‘true value’ not be reflected if you are being offered the chance to become Newcastle United’s best paid player?
Either Newcastle have not offered Gordon what was reported, or Gordon thinks he is worth even more than that…
Newcastle have lots of contracts to sort out
It is vital that Newcastle sort out Gordon’s contract situation. It would be very dangerous to head into the summer of 2025 with the Magpies’ number 10 having just 12 months to run on his deal.
However, there are various other players who need their contracts seeing to. Alexander Isak is another player who Newcastle United officials are trying to tie down to a lengthier deal.
Elsewhere, Martin Dubravka, Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Emil Krafth, Sean Longstaff and Dan Burn are all in the final year of their current Newcastle United deals.
