Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe spent weeks in hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
Assistant manager Jason Tindall took the reins as head coach in his absence, but it was clear he was missing his partner in crime.
Tindall’s record while Eddie Howe was absent was positive, winning two of his three games in charge. Amid concern over his health, Tindall provided regular updates on Howe’s condition and ensured that he was getting the best care possible.
Howe returned to his duties at Newcastle United in April, with his first game being the 3-0 win against Ipswich Town at St James’ Park.
The 47-year-old has been on the touchline ever since, recently enjoying Newcastle’s 2-0 win against Chelsea, which moved them closer towards Champions League qualification.
Recently, Howe returned to the hospital where he was treated to thank them for their brilliant service. During his return, one Newcastle fan made a hilarious admission to the boss, which he could only laugh at.

While the boss was unable to manage on the touchline for several weeks, he still made an effort to throw his two cents into things from the hospital bed.
Tindall said Howe texted him after Newcastle beat Manchester United 4-1 in April, but later admitted that contact between the two had been fairly slim.
His contact from the hospital shows the type of person he is. Still willing to give it his all even in the worst of times. Danny Higginbotham believes Howe deserves more credit for his efforts at Newcastle over the last three years, but other Newcastle fans are well aware of how integral he is to the club’s success.
During a recent interview at Newcastle’s RVI, Howe spoke to a doctor who treated him. The doctor was a Newcastle fan, who nervously said: “You’re looking a lot better. I was quite anxious treating you, making sure (you were ok). Added pressure!”
Later in the video, Howe gifted one of the nurses, who is a Burnley fan, a ticket to Newcastle vs Burnley next season and a shirt to wear on the day.

This season has been a fever dream for Newcastle fans who could never have predicted just how good they have been. However, it did not always look like it was going to be a successful campaign.
Newcastle struggled for form between September and December, ultimately finding themselves mid-table and looking hopeless. After Newcastle lost 4-2 at Brentford in December 2024, the players gave themselves an ultimatum and vowed to stop the poor run of form.
The next nine games would see them go on a sensational win streak, which helped them back up to the Champions League spots with a new air of confidence.
With two games left in the Premier League season, Howe is close to achieving Champions League qualification with Newcastle for a second time in three seasons.
Many believe Howe deserves a statue at Newcastle for his efforts. It will be hard to disagree with those statements if he ensures a return to Europe’s top competition.
