Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is very excited about Tino Livramento’s future on Tyneside.

The 21-year-old joined the Magpies during the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United buying the defender from Southampton for £32million.

It was a huge investment in a backup right-back, but Tino Livramento was brought in with a view towards the future – towards a time when Kieran Trippier is no longer playing in black and white.

Signing the defender was a smart bit of business, and we have already seen how exceptionally talented he is. He has been brilliant on the left of defence, while he even got his first goal last weekend in the 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now Livramento is set for a spell in the starting XI at right-back, with Kieran Trippier out of action due to a calf problem. It is a great opportunity for him, and Eddie Howe is really happy with the start he has made as a Newcastle player.

Eddie Howe thinks Tino Livramento is going to get better and better

Howe has been speaking to the media ahead of Newcastle’s game against Chelsea. He was asked about Livramento’s start to life as a Magpie coming so soon after a serious knee injury.

“I actually think it’s been the ideal introduction to his return from injury,” he said.

“Not only did he have the serious knee injury, he had the hamstring injury just after that which kept him out. We needed to nurse him, manage him and look after him. How this season has gone has probably been the ideal introduction back.

“I still think there’s more to come. I don’t think we’ve seen the very best of him yet. I really do believe in his potential so a very exciting future ahead of him hopefully.”

So much more to come from Livramento at right-back

As Howe says, we still have not seen the best of Livramento. He has barely had a proper run in the team in his favoured position, while he is only 21-years-old.

The former Chelsea youngster is going to keep getting better, which is why Newcastle spent so much money on him.

Not only did Livramento immediately improve the Newcastle squad, but he also ensured they have a starting right-back for the next 10 years. It was such a clever signing, and one that will be looked back on fondly in the future.

Livramento is already a fan favourite at St James’ Park, but his popularity is only going to increase further as he continues his development.
