Eddie Howe has had to ask some of his Newcastle United players to play out of position this season, one of which is Tino Livramento.
The 21-year-old arrived from Southampton for £32million, with the idea that he would act as deputy to Kieran Trippier.
However, Tino Livramento has actually played a lot of his football in black and white at left-back. The youngster was asked to move over there during Dan Burn‘s injury layoff, and he played brilliantly.
It led to calls from fans for Livramento to be a regular starter there, but he has since returned to the bench following Burn’s recovery.
Now the calls for Livramento to start at left-back are louder than ever after Burn massively struggled against Luton Town.
But Eddie Howe has been quick to remind people that Livramento actually is a right-back, despite being seriously impressed with his performances on the opposite side of the pitch.
Eddie Howe amazed with Tino Livramento’s performances at left-back
Howe has been speaking to the media about Livramento ahead of Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle United.
“He’s an outstanding player,” he told the Chronicle.
“That’s why I fought so hard to sign him. His best years are ahead of him. I’m the biggest fan of him. His primary position is right-back and he’s fighting with Kieran. But he will no doubt get his time and hopefully play a lot of games for this club.
“I love him at left-back as well. I think he’s done extremely well there. He’s been incredible in that position.”

Livramento should start on the left for Newcastle against Forest
While Howe has made it clear that Livramento is a right-back, he should play on the left of defence this weekend.
A lot has been made about Burn’s struggles against Luton, and you can imagine that Nottingham Forest will target the 31-year-old if he starts at the City Ground. And if he does start, there will be a lot of pressure on him to perform.
Therefore, it could be wise for Howe to take Burn out of the firing line and recall Livramento to the starting lineup.
The Newcastle manager has been more than satisfied with Livramento’s performances out of position, and he should trust him to perform there again this weekend against Nottingham Forest.
