Eddie Howe will welcome some key players back into the Newcastle United squad after the international break, but it will be a little bit longer until we see Joe Willock.
The 24-year-old has not played since last season. He picked up a hamstring injury against Brighton on May 18th, and that kept him out of action during pre-season.
The midfielder then suffered another setback during his recovery, picking up an Achilles injury. Following that blow, it was reported that Willock would be out of action for another six weeks.
Those six weeks have now passed, but a return to fitness for Willock does not appear to be imminent.
Joe Willock’s return from injury is not imminent yet
That is according to the Northern Echo, who have reported that Willock is currently still a few weeks away from returning to full fitness.

Fans are really excited to see him back in a black and white shirt, but it sounds like we will have to wait a little while longer for that to happen.
That is a shame, but good things come to those who wait. Newcastle are doing well at the moment, but will hopefully improve even further when Willock is back.
He was a key player for the Magpies last season, although he managed to largely go under the radar. Joleon Lescott described him as ‘underrated‘, and that was clearly the case when it came to international recognition. Despite some sensational performances, Willock was not called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

That will be an ambition of his when he does return to full fitness, and Toon co-owner Jamie Reuben believes that a Three Lions cap is not too far away.
Willock is hugely popular among Toon fans and the owners, with Mehrdad Ghodoussi also showering the former Arsenal man with praise. He stated that the ‘best is yet to come‘ from Willock, which is an exciting prospect considering how good he has been for Newcastle.
He will be eager to make a splash when he does return to fitness, but it sounds like that is still a few weeks away at the moment.
