Newcastle United are looking to sign a winger during the January transfer window.
The summer came and went without any major additions at Newcastle United, despite Eddie Howe’s desire to bring in a right-sided centre-back and a right winger.
Between now and the beginning of 2025, Eddie Howe can focus on the football. However, it will not be long before Toon officials are pondering transfers once again as January looms.
It has been reported that Newcastle’s January priority is a winger, despite spending most of the summer pursuing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Newcastle United linked with Tyler Dibling
Amid the Magpies’ search for a winger, Tyler Dibling has been linked with Newcastle United.
Dibling was a Newcastle transfer target in 2022, and is once again on the Magpies’ radar following a sensational start to his first season as a Premier League player.

The 18-year-old is doing extremely well for Southampton, and netted his first senior goal on Saturday during the Saints’ 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.
It was an outstanding goal by Dibling. He was picked out in the box by Adam Lallana, then got away from two Ipswich defenders with an outrageously good first touch.
Dibling then provided an equally as impressive finish, showing elite composure to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and score the first senior goal of his career.
What Troy Deeney has said about Tyler Dibling
It was an excellent goal from Dibling, and it earned him a place in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport.
The former Watford striker has been hugely complimentary about Dibling, before suggesting that the teenager might not be a Southampton player for much longer.
“He [Dibling] is one player everybody needs to look forward to because he is the business,” he said.
“He might not still be at Southampton in January.
“This 18-year-old can play anywhere in midfield – a sitter, a 10, an eight, you name it he’s got it in the bag. He was super-confident and so comfortable.
“Every now and then you see a player who looks like they walk through games, he is like that. He scored his first goal as well, fair play to him.”
Why Newcastle United might struggle to sign Dibling in January
After seeing him start the season so well for Southampton, Deeney has suggested that Dibling could soon be a wanted man and possibly leave St Mary’s in the New Year.
That could present Newcastle United with an opportunity, but it is an opportunity that Southampton are already planning to stop becoming a reality.
It was recently reported that Southampton want to extend Dibling’s contract, as they aim to fend off interest from other suitors amid his bright start to the season.
One of those suitors is Newcastle, who would love to have a player like Dibling. However, even if he was available, it is difficult to see how the Magpies could get a reasonable deal now that his reputation has been severely enhanced.
