Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Tyler Dibling this summer.

That’s according to i News, who claim the Magpies want to add the Southampton wonderkid to their squad. The Chronicle add that he is highly rated by Newcastle.

The 16-year-old is the latest teenage talent to be linked with a move to St James’ Park. Alex Murphy has already joined the club, while deals appears to be in place for Charlie McArthur and Jordan Hackett.

Newcastle are making a real effort to boost the talent in the club’s academy, but Dibling is the most exciting target of the lot.

It would be a real coup if Newcastle can complete a deal for the extremely talented teenager.

Dibling has spent the past season playing for Southampton’s youth sides. The attacking midfielder got nine goal contributions in the U18 Premier League, while he also featured at Under-23 level.

He played twice in Premier League 2, including a memorable appearance against Newcastle’s youth side at St James’ Park in April.

The Saints won 4-2, with Dibling netting an incredible hat trick. Scoring three goals in one game is special, but this was something else.

All three of Dibling’s goals were almost identical. On each occasion he drove with the ball from deep and fired a low shot into the bottom right corner from the edge of the box.

His hat-trick went viral, and suddenly everyone knew the name Tyler Dibling.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has certainly been taking note, and almost promoted him to the first team. The Daily Mail reported towards the end of last season that the Saints boss was considering putting him on the bench before the Premier League ended.

Sadly for Dibling that didn’t happen, but to even be considered for a substitute role at 16 is a true testament to his ability.

That’s why he is such an exciting talent, and it’s why a move to Newcastle would really turn heads. He looks like a future star, and it would be excellent to see him flourish in black and white shirt in the future.

Dan Ashworth’s job is to boost the club’s academy as well as the first team, and he will certainly do that if Dibling becomes a Magpie.
