Newcastle United fans may be familiar with Nick De Marco after he represented the club during their legal battle over the takeover.
Nick De Marco is widely regarded as one of the top sports lawyers around and he is becoming well-liked by many sets of Premier League fans.
He represented Newcastle in their Competition Appeal Tribunal hearing in September 2021 ahead of the PIF takeover being completed a month later.
De Marco has also played a huge role in defending clubs from breaches to the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.
He represented Nottingham Forest in their PSR defence last season when they were deducted four points and he also represented Leicester City this season as they successfully evaded a points deduction.

Nick De Marco praises Newcastle United donation
Newcastle United’s calendar was shaken up in September after flooding caused a postponement against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.
The match was rescheduled to take place at St James’ Park with Wimbledon’s Plough Lane needing repairs and Newcastle won 1-0 against the League Two opposition.
Ahead of the match, it was revealed that Newcastle had donated £15,000 towards a fundraiser raising money for Wimbledon’s ground repairs.
Newcastle fans reacted to the £15,000 donation and praised club chiefs at St James’ Park for going out of their way to help Wimbledon.
De Marco was also full of praise for Newcastle after hearing about their donation. Via X he posted:
De Marco praised Newcastle for doing “one of the best things big clubs can do” after helping out a lower-league club.
Newcastle narrowly avoided PSR breach
Newcastle came extremely close to potentially needing De Marco’s services this summer with the club on the brink of breaching PSR.
Newcastle were forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh before the end of June to avoid breaching PSR and receiving a potential points deduction.
It was reported that Newcastle could have been deducted 10 points if they had not sold the two youngsters to balance their books.

Since the PIF takeover has been completed, Newcastle have been working behind the scenes to try and grow revenue streams in order to have more flexibility around the financial regulations.
After a disappointing summer window where Newcastle actually made a profit from transfers, hopefully the club are now past their PSR crisis.
