Newcastle United have announced the signing of Tino Livramento, who becomes the third senior player to join the Magpies this summer.
He has now arrived alongside Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes, as Eddie Howe looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Livramento has agreed a five-year deal with the Magpies, costing £31million plus add-ons. He arrives from Southampton with a huge amount of potential, and is a player who should have a very bright future on Tyneside.
However, his immediate role will be understudy. Livramento is going to act as backup to Kieran Trippier, who is Newcastle’s resident right-back.
The plan will be for Livramento to eventually replace the 32-year-old, but for now he is going to be first reserve.

But he will get the chance to learn from Trippier, and that is a big reason why Livramento decided to make the move to St James’ Park.
Tino Livramento excited to learn from Kieran Trippier
Following confirmation of his transfer to Newcastle, Livramento has spoke to NUFC TV. He was asked about getting the chance to learn from Trippier.
“That was a big reason as to why I wanted to come here,” he said.
“He’s a great player, very experienced. Everyone at the club rates him so highly, they’ve said he’ll help you a lot.
“Of course, I’m really excited.”
In an interview with the club’s website, Livramento added: “To be able to learn from Kieran Trippier is another big thing for me. Hopefully he teaches me how to become a better player and a better full-back.”
Trippier’s impact at Newcastle knows no bounds
We use the word ‘transformative’ when we talk about Trippier coming to Newcastle, and the £12million man’s impact grows larger week by week.
The role he has on the pitch is seismic. He was arguably our best player last season, and was certainly the top right-back in the Premier League.

Off the pitch, he is just as important. He leads the group, and ensures that the squad is united alongside the rest of the leadership team at St James’ Park.
Now he is influencing transfers too, which is nothing new. Trippier played a role in deals for Chris Wood and Nick Pope, and now he is the inspiration for Livramento coming to Tyneside.
He will be able to learn a huge amount from Trippier, and that should really help him achieve the huge amount of potential that he clearly has.
