There will be a handful of Newcastle United players by the phone next month hoping for a call from new England manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Premier League will be put on pause towards the end of March for the final international break of the season.

Newcastle United’s final match before the break will be at Wembley for the 2025 Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

After that, Newcastle’s players will have a chance to jet out to their national teams – hopefully in a celebratory mood.

Under Lee Carsley as interim manager, Lewis Hall got his first call up to England in November which came just weeks after Tino Livramento was called up in September.

Anthony Gordon also starred for England under Carsley, scoring his first senior international goal against Ireland.

Thomas Tuchel’s latest England talks are bad news for Newcastle

Tuchel has now taken over from Carsley in the England hot seat, and he will name his first Three Lions squad next month.

Gordon’s spot at England should be safe given Tuchel tried to sign him for Chelsea back in 2022. However, Tuchel did hold talks with Gordon’s competitor in the shape of Marcus Rashford.

Now, Tino Livramento could also be facing extra competition for his spot with The Telegraph reporting that Tuchel has held talks with Ben White about a potential return.

The Arsenal right-back has not played for England since March 2022 and was left out of the World Cup squad after requesting not to be picked by Gareth Southgate.

However, Tuchel seems eager to reintegrate him into the England squad, which could force Livramento out of the picture.

Tino Livramento deserves an England call-up

Livramento has grown into a key player for Newcastle this season and he has already more than justified the £32m fee spent on him.

Last month, Eddie Howe said Livramento impressed Tuchel after starring in the 2-1 win over Tottenham. The England boss was in attendance for that match.

Unfortunately for Livramento, England are stacked with talent at right-back with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kyle Walker, Reece James and even Newcastle teammate Kieran Trippier competing for a spot in the England squad.

However, if Tuchel is planning for England’s future, Livramento is still only 22 years old and could become a Three Lions regular for the next decade.

Tuchel is set to reveal his squad in around two weeks, meaning Livramento, Hall and Gordon will be aware of their inclusion before heading to Wembley.
