Thomas Tuchel will be keeping a close eye on Newcastle United as he ponders his upcoming England squads.
The new Three Lions boss is yet to make his intentions clear, having only officially started his role on January 1st. Since then he has been watching a lot of games, starting with Newcastle’s win over Tottenham.
On that day he saw Anthony Gordon score and Tino Livramento excel at right-back. Lewis Hall was also in action, having made his England debut under Lee Carsley last year.
Eddie Howe has done an excellent job at improving and promoting English talent. It has been one of the foundations for his success at St James’ Park.
Newcastle transfer target on England radar

That could continue in the coming years, as current Newcastle United transfer target James Trafford is on Tuchel’s radar.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Tuchel has been watching Trafford as he considers who he should name in the England squad.
Nixon states that Tuchel is not against picking players from the Championship, with Trafford currently shining for Burnley.
They are competing for promotion, with the 22-year-old playing incredibly well. Trafford recently saved two penalties against Sunderland, which were seen live by Tuchel’s assistant Anthony Barry.
Newcastle move could help James Trafford achieve England dream
The fact that Trafford is being considered for England right now is a testament to his performances. He is clearly a player with immense potential, which is why Tuchel is watching him.
It is also why Eddie Howe wants to sign him. While a January transfer is unlikely, Trafford still interests Newcastle.
And given the Magpies’ recent record of helping young English players get in the England squad, a move to St James’ Park is surely appealing for the stopper.
It has been claimed that Trafford is interested in joining Newcastle, having missed out on the move last summer.
He could be a future Newcastle United number one, and that could eventually lead to him becoming England’s number one as well.
