Things are going very well for Newcastle United right now.
Carabao Cup winners for the first time in their history, Newcastle United are flying high in the Premier League.
A fine run of form has seen Newcastle leap to third in the Premier League table, putting them on course to qualify for the Champions League once again.
Clearly, there’s still an awful lot do and Saturday’s huge trip to Aston Villa will be difficult indeed.

However, confidence is high and there’s still a key player to come back in the form of Sven Botman.
The defender hasn’t played since requiring another knee operation earlier this year, although appears to be closing in on a comeback.

Sven Botman confirms Newcastle United injury boost
Assistant manager Jason Tindall is in charge of Newcastle United’s first-team while manager Eddie Howe is recovering from pneumonia.
Tindall has confirmed Botman is set to return for Newcastle imminently, although his exact comeback date is yet to have been confirmed.
The Dutchman has made only five senior appearances since undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury last season but posted an exciting update on his Instagram story.
Botman added a couple of sand timer emojis to a photo of himself in action, hinting at a return reasonably soon.
Eddie Howe preparing for major Sven Botman boost
Howe believes Newcastle have missed Botman’s physical presence at times this season, although it’s perhaps not too big a deal right now given recent results.

Still, having the defender back can only be a good thing. Both Fabian Schar and Dan Burn (the team’s current first-choice central defensive partnership) are over 30 and could surely do with rotation at some point.
Getting Botman back into the swing of things towards the end of the season would, at least on paper, tee him up nicely for next year.
After effectively a whole season injured, that’d be a major boost ahead of the new campaign.
