‘So happy for you’… Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes is stunned by what £44m player did yesterday

After failing to inspire Newcastle United to victory on Saturday, Bruno Guimaraes has been left stunned by what one of his international teammates has done.

Bruno Guimaraes was left to reflect on what was a crazy game on Saturday, as Newcastle drew 4-4 with Luton Town. The 26-year-old did everything he could to pick up all three points, including an outrageous assist to set up Kieran Trippier.

He almost did it again in the latter stages, with another moment of magic almost giving Newcastle a winner. Sadly, Jacob Murphy could not direct Bruno’s cross towards goal.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Brazil international, but it was a different story for his fellow countryman 24 hours later.

Bruno Guimaraes congratulates Matheus Cunha

Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Chelsea 4-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Matheus Cunha scoring a hat-trick.

After the game, he took to Instagram to celebrate. Alongside pictures from the game, he wrote: “Thank you, to all of you who have been supporting me at Every moment. You are in charge of your future. I love being here and sharing the field with these guys, this staff and these fans.”

Cunha’s message prompted a reply from Bruno, who wrote: “So happy for you bro.”

Wolves are now just one point behind Newcastle after Cunha’s heroics

Bruno and Cunha have represented Brazil together, while they also won Olympic Gold for their country at the 2020 games in Tokyo, Japan.

Now they are both playing in the Premier League, with Cunha enjoying the best season of his career. After a slow start at Wolves, the £44million man has got 11 goals in all competitions. That is more than he is every managed and we are only in February.

Interestingly, Cunha was actually offered to Newcastle just over a year ago. The Magpies had the chance to sign the 24-year-old, but he would go on to move to Molineux instead.

He is now doing brilliantly for Gary O’Neil’s side, and his efforts on Sunday mean that Wolves are now just one point behind Newcastle. They are in 10th in the Premier League, despite looking like relegation contenders at the start of the campaign.

Wolves will be heading to Tyneside very soon, with Cunha and co set to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on March 2nd. Bruno will be looking forward to seeing his international teammate, but will hope that he does not have the same kind of joy that he experienced at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
