Since the new owners arrived, everything has changed at Newcastle United.
The season was looking bleak heading into the winter, but October 6th brought news of a looming change. Reports began to swirl that the abandoned takeover of 2020 was back on, and Newcastle could soon be rid of Mike Ashley once and for all.
24 hours later and that dream became a reality. The speed the takeover went from off to on was remarkable. Just days prior, a grim Newcastle performance saw the Magpies lose 2-1 at Molineux. Fans were despondent, with relegation looking all but certain.
October 7th and there was renewed hope. The takeover was complete, with PIF buying 80% of the club, and Amanda Staveley and Jamie Reuben splitting the other 20%.

Change was suddenly imminent.
Eddie Howe replaced Steve Bruce, and he has had a remarkable 2022 that has taken Newcastle from relegation certainties to ninth in the Premier League.
St James’ Park is a happy place once again, for players, supporters and staff.
Newcastle United’s new owners are ‘accessible’ to players
The January transfer window helped, with five players arriving for a combined fee of £93million. However, the new owners’ winter spend is not what has impressed Toon players the most.

According to the Athletic, Howe’s squad have been impressed with how ‘accessible and immersed’ the new regime are. It’s a far cry from Ashley’s time at the club, that’s for sure.
The report adds that Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi socialised with the players on the trips away and are in contact with the manager daily.
Some may think the owners are too involved, but where do you draw the line? Some clubs have silent owners who you never see or hear from.
At Newcastle, you can clearly see that everyone is pulling in the same direction. The mood has completely changed at Newcastle United, with that word ‘United’ holding more meaning than ever.
