Napoli forward Victor Osimhen doesn’t want to move to Newcastle United according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Furthermore, the same report states that Osimhen is not convinced by Arsenal either.
The Italian publication also reports that the Magpies made an attempt to sign him in January. He was also a target this summer. However, now it looks like Osimhen to Newcastle looks off.
He put his future on hold about a week ago, but he’s now made it clear. A lack of Champions League football is the main reason why the Nigerian international won’t join. Staying at Napoli means he can play in the competition and likely challenge for the league title in Italy.
Some Gunners fans will be kicking themselves for not getting top four. Osimhen may not have been convinced by Arsenal, but having Champions League football could’ve changed his mind.
The 23-year-old has 14 league goals to his name this season. Impressing many and is one of Europe’s hottest prospects at the moment. Osimhen’s teammate Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa described him as ‘unbeatable’.

Osimhen to Newcastle always looked unlikely, but it’s now clearly done and dusted
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Osimhen doesn’t want to move to Newcastle. The fee they were asking for was too much, around £84 million.
So as exciting as it was to see him linked with the Toon, Osimhen to Newcastle looks officially off. Hugo Ekitike was one of the main strikers linked with Newcastle for a while, but it looks like the Magpies are set to walk away.
It seemed Newcastle had him as their priority this summer when it came to strikers. But Eddie Howe may have to look elsewhere now. As he looks to kickstart his first full season with the Toon.

Strikers linked with Newcastle include Armando Broja. In addition, they’ve been offered to sign Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa this summer too.
There is definitely no need to panic at this stage, Newcastle fans. There’s still plenty of time to land another striker before the window closes. What’s reassuring is the number of players linked, in the past, it has been slim pickings.
PIF has spent very intelligently since they’ve taken charge. The same will be done for a forward this summer.
