Newcastle United target Victor Osimhen has put a decision regarding his future on hold for now.
The striker is a man in demand, with various clubs keen to sign the 23-year-old from Napoli. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all been linked, with the former reportedly offering £51million.
Eddie Howe’s side are also reportedly keen, as the Magpies search for a new striker.
Newcastle want competition for Callum Wilson, who endured an injury hit season last time out. He still managed eight goals, making him the club’s top scorer.

But Howe wants to sign another forward, although moves for Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are proving to be difficult given their lofty asking prices.
Osimhen is another option, but he won’t come cheap either. Calciomercato claimed last month that Napoli want more than £85million for the Nigeria international.
Osimhen aware of Premier League interest
While interest grows in Osimhen, he’s keen to put talk of his future on hold until after his holiday. However, he is aware that clubs in England are interested.
“I know there are many people that would like me in Spain or England, but I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it now that I’m with the national team,” he told Il Mattino, as reported by Calciomercato.

“I always go out on the pitch to do my best both with the national team and with my club.
“I don’t know my future, I know anything can happen, but now I just want to go on holiday with my family, clear my head and recharge my batteries. Then we’ll take care of everything else.”
Newcastle move feels very unlikely
Osimhen may be ready to take care of his future in the near future, but a transfer to Newcastle feels unlikely.
A move worth £85million would be more than double the amount we paid for Joelinton in 2019, who is our record signing right now.
Of course, the takeover means finances have changed at St James’ Park. But that still doesn’t mean we should be throwing around crazy money like that.

Osimhen has enjoyed a decent season in Serie A, scoring 14 goals in 27 appearances. It’s his best ever league tally, and he’s a player that can certainly get better.
His international record is good too, with 15 goals from 22 caps. However, four of those goals came in a recent 10-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe.
But with big clubs circling around Osimhen, a move to Newcastle surely won’t appeal. He’ll likely want to play in the Champions League, which we can’t offer right now.
He knows English clubs are keen, but don’t expect a decision over his future to lead to him holding a black and white scarf anytime soon.
