Anthony Gordon has quickly become one of Newcastle United’s most important players since his switch from Everton.
The 23-year-old winger joined Newcastle United in January 2023 and his £45m fee is looking more and more like a bargain every week.
Anthony Gordon enjoyed an incredible 2023/24 season, scoring 12 goals and assisting 11 times in all competitions.
He earned a call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad but was not given the game time he deserved, perhaps because of a potential fall-out with manager Gareth Southgate.
Gordon has endured a slower start to this season but his performances have picked up in recent weeks for club and country – including a solid display in the 2-1 win over Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

There is a growing list of full-backs who have endured nightmare performances against Gordon. His direct running and ability to beat a man makes him a tough match-up for any defender.
In the latest international break, Gordon featured for Lee Carsley’s England in the 2-0 wins over Republic of Ireland and Finland.
Against Finland, Gordon lined up on the left against right-back Adam Stahl, who was making his international debut.
Gordon had the beating of Stahl on the night, and the 29-year-old has now made a bold prediction about the Newcastle winger.
Speaking to Swedish outlet FotbollSkanalen, Stahl said: “The crazy thing is that I have followed Anthony Gordon since he went to Newcastle. He’s a player I think is awesome.
“To meet him and feel his speed – I see myself as a fast player, but you understand that there are levels in football. It was a lot of fun.
“I think he will be one of the best wingers in the world soon. It was nice to play against him, it was a good game.”
Anthony Gordon can shine this season
Gordon may only have one goal to his name so far, but he has shown glimpses of brilliance which suggest he can go up another gear this season.
Had his shot against Wolves been a few inches to the left, he would have scored one of the best solo goals in the Premier League after beating three players and bursting into the box.

He is already one of the first names on Eddie Howe’s teamsheet, and even with Harvey Barnes in superb form it’s difficult to see Gordon being moved out of his favoured left-wing spot.
Newcastle have made a great start to the season results-wise, but performance levels need to increase. Once Newcastle start ticking, expect plenty of goals to follow for Gordon.
