Pete Graves tweet sends Newcastle United fans wild
With that in mind, a tweet from Sky Sports News presenter Pete Graves has got a lot of Newcastle United fans talking.
Graves posted a picture from the Sky Sports News studio on Wednesday morning, showing an image of Toon target Bryan Mbeumo.
It is well known that Graves is a Newcastle United supporter, and lot of fans on X thought he was sending a message about the Magpies’ interest.
One fan asked: “You trying to tell us something Pete? He’d be amazing for us under Eddie.”
Another added: “HA I know what you’re doing….& I’m completely sold.”
“Howay Pete don’t tease us like that” commented a third Toon fan.
“Stop it Pete, don’t dangle the dream,” wrote this Newcastle United supporter.
A fifth member of the Toon Army asked: “Cryptic Pete?”
Finally, this fan added: “You tease.”
Pete Graves reacts to Newcastle fans ‘getting excited’
It was quite the leap from these Newcastle United fans, and Graves has since set the record straight.
He wrote on X: “For everyone getting excited and over analysing… I regularly post the studio setup in the morning. Brentford skipper has said he expects Mbeumo to leave, and Inter Barca is the top story. Simple as that x.”
As Graves says, he regularly posts a photo from the Sky Sports News studio. However, a lot of the images he does post do have a Newcastle United link to them.
That was the case on Wednesday with Mbeumo, regardless of whether or not it was intentional.
During an interview broadcast on Sky Sports News, Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard admitted that Mbeumo is likely to leave this summer.
That will be music to the ears of Toon fans, who are hoping that he swaps the Gtech Community Stadium for St James’ Park.
However, there are no guarantees that he will be on his way to Tyneside. Manchester United also want Mbeumo, who has been one of the Premier League’s best attackers this season.
