Newcastle United are hoping to make it four away wins out of four at the expense of Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Eddie Howe‘s side have largely struggled on the road this season, boasting just five wins away from St James’ Park in all competitions.
But three of those have came in the Magpies’ last three games, and they have the chance to increase that to four at the City Ground.
Newcastle have looked much better on their travels since the turn of the year, with their most recent performance against Aston Villa arguably their best of the season.
But they were unable to follow it up with a win against Luton Town, which is why Howe’s side are under pressure to pick up three points on Saturday.
Pundit Paul Merson expects them to do just that – but only just.
Paul Merson thinks Newcastle will beat Nottingham Forest this weekend
As part of his Premier League predictions column for Sportskeeda, Merson has backed Newcastle to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 on Saturday evening.
“Both these teams need to start winning games soon,” he wrote.
“I heard Morgan Gibbs-White might be injured, but strangely enough, he stayed on the whole time against Bristol City, so his involvement in the game could decide the outcome.
“Newcastle are becoming a bit like Brighton in the sense that they are hard to predict, but I think they’ll just nick this one on their travels.”

Any win will do for Newcastle
It does not matter how they do it – Newcastle United simply just need to win on Saturday evening.
It is going to be a very tough game, as Forest have already proven that they can cause us problems this season. They were excellent at St James’ Park on Boxing Day, winning 3-1.
To make matters worse, Newcastle look set to be without their two most important attackers in Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
But Newcastle need to find a way, at a time when they are difficult to predict. That is why Merson has likened the Magpies to Brighton, who are also proving to be inconsistent. The Seagulls are one place and two points above Newcastle right now, but that could change this weekend.
