Newcastle United have plenty of injuries right now, and they picked up a couple more at the weekend ahead of facing Borussia Dortmund.
Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy were forced off during the 1-0 win over Arsenal, while Eddie Howe did his best to preserve Callum Wilson by taking him off in the 62nd minute.
The 31-year-old has been Newcastle’s only fit striker as of late, with Alexander Isak out of action with a groin injury. And given Wilson’s fitness issues, Howe has been forced to carefully manage the number nine.
However, a fresh update suggests that Howe might have a second striker at his disposal sooner than anticipated.

Alexander Isak seen in Newcastle training ahead of Dortmund
It had been claimed that Isak would return for Newcastle when they face Chelsea at the end of November, which is the club’s first game after the upcoming international break.
However, a report from the Chronicle suggests that Newcastle may have received an injury boost.
According to the Chronicle, Isak has been spotted in training ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund. They state that he was seen working with Toon physio Dave Galley.
It remains unclear whether or not that means the 24-year-old could be involved against Dortmund or Bournemouth at the weekend. But it is certainly encouraging to see him back earlier than anticipated.
Isak has been playing brilliantly this season, and was described as ‘outstanding’ by Howe in the buildup to the Magpies’ previous Champions League game. The Swede started that night against Dortmund, but was forced off with a groin problem.
He has not been seen since, and is now joined by Callum Wilson at the top of the Toon scoring charts with both players on seven.
It would be a huge boost if Isak is available for either Dortmund or Bournemouth, as it had been expected that he would not return for a couple more weeks. But Newcastle will be careful not to rush him back, having already witnessed him suffer one setback.
