Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade’s start to the international break was delayed due to illness.
The 23-year-old is in the Germany squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, and will be feeling confident following a blistering start to his Newcastle United career.
He has scored four goals for his new club, with Woltemade’s latest coming from the penalty spot. It was not just any penalty, however, with Woltemade beautifully finding the top corner.
The striker now turns his attention to representing his country, but that had been at risk when he was struck down by a virus.
It had been confirmed that Woltemade would not immediately link up with his Germany teammates due to the illness, and now the situation has developed.

Nick Woltemade back in training after illness
With Germany in action on Friday night against Luxembourg, there were worries that Julian Nagelsmann would be without the £69million striker.
However, that may not be the case.
Woltemade is now with the Germany squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers, and is expected to be available for their upcoming games against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland.
German outlet Sport1 claim that Newcastle’s most expensive signing has been training on his own, but is set to feature in both games.
That is a boost for Germany, who have just three points from their opening two World Cup qualifiers.
Pressure on Nick Woltemade to stay fit for Newcastle United
Woltemade is becoming fitter, having suffered cramp within an hour of his Toon debut.
Eddie Howe has been forced to play the 6ft 6in forward more than he anticipated due to Yoane Wissa’s injury, which has not proven to be an issue.
While Woltemade is surprisingly shining in Wissa’s absence, there is increased pressure to keep him fit.
Wissa is out for longer than expected, which means that it is vital that Woltemade remains available. Fortunately, this issue with Germany was just an illness rather than an injury.
But it does showcase the fragility of Newcastle’s situation in attack, with Will Osula the only other recognised striker that is available to Howe right now.
