William Osula has sent a major plea to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe after becoming Denmark Under-21s’ hero at the Under-21 European Championships.
The young striker has been a star player at the tournament so far, scoring three goals in Denmark’s first two games. William Osula was named on the bench for their first game against Ukraine, but came on late into the match to score, assist, and secure the three points for Denmark.
Osula signed for Newcastle United during the 2024 summer transfer window, but did not start in any of his 14 Premier League appearances. The lack of minutes is sure to have frustrated the 21-year-old, who is now showing what he can do when given the opportunity.
While he is desperate for more minutes, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe does not trust Osula in big games and still believes that he needs more time to develop before being a part of the starting XI.
With Newcastle fans adamant that Osula is good enough to be in the starting XI, the Dane has commented on his lack of minutes at club level after his heroics against the Netherlands on Sunday.

William Osula asks for more minutes at Newcastle United
Although he has not played there in the tournament, Osula can play as a right winger for Newcastle, a position that Howe is desperate to improve in the summer transfer window.
Osula could save Newcastle millions if given the chance to feature more often, especially with the busy Champions League schedule on the horizon.
Now, Osula has made a public plea to Howe over his game time, effectively begging him for more appearances.
Speaking to Danish outlet Bold, Osula said: “I just need playing time to show what I can do. It means something to me.
“I already know… Only myself and my father know what I can do. When playing time comes, everyone will see what I can do on the pitch.”
Osula is likely to be in action with Denmark again when they face Finland on Wednesday.
William Osula won’t benefit from Newcastle United’s transfer plans
This summer is set to be a big one for Newcastle, with several big names linked with moves to Tyneside. One position Howe is eager to improve is striker, with the 47-year-old keen to provide more quality to support Alexander Isak ahead of their Champions League campaign.
While fans will be pleased to see new signings, it could spell bad luck for Osula, who is likely to fall further down the pecking order. The 21-year-old is currently Newcastle’s third-choice striker, with Callum Wilson ahead of him.

Osula has the chance to become the Magpies’ second-choice next season, but he would have to rely on Newcastle releasing Wilson from his contract and failing to sign another striker.
With Newcastle in talks for Joao Pedro, it is highly unlikely that Osula will move up the pecking order at the club next season, but he could benefit from a busier schedule due to their return to the Champions League.
Osula still has time to impress Howe and show that he deserves to be in the starting XI more often next season.
