Newcastle United could pair transfer target Joao Pedro with a star he’s always wanted to play alongside.

Geordie Boot Boys understands that Pedro is one of Newcastle United’s leading transfer targets this summer, with the club having come close to signing him back in 2022 while he was still a Watford player.

Pedro could cost Newcastle around £60million this summer, with Eddie Howe said to be a big fan of the Brazilian’s versatility.

Indeed, Pedro and Alexander Isak could form an exciting partnership at Newcastle but it’s another couple of Toon players the Brighton forward has been excited to play alongside.

In fact, he thinks one is a “monster”.

Joao Pedro had a dream to play with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton

Back in 2022, it was claimed by The Chronicle that Pedro would like to play alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.

All three, of course, are Brazilian and have represented the national team.

Pedro has actually played alongside Joelinton for 32 minutes during a World Cup qualifier Brazil won against Colombia 2-1 in March 2025.

As for Guimaraes, he and Pedro have three appearances together for a total of 123 minutes.

They both played in the aforementioned Colombia game, while the pair were on the pitch for Brazil’s defeat to Paraguay in September 2024 and a defeat to Colombia in 2023.

What Joao Pedro has said about Joelinton

Despite having a relatively short amount of time training and playing together, it seems Joelinton has left a lasting impression on Pedro.

Earlier this year, Pedro called Joelinton a ‘monster’ on social media, after the Newcastle star posted an Instagram image of himself in Brazil training.

The idea of all three Brazilians lining up at St James’ Park is exciting. Such is Pedro’s versatility, he could play alongside his compatriots in midfield, or even ahead of them in a more attacking position.

If Newcastle can convince Brighton to sell without breaking the bank, Pedro looks the perfect addition this summer.
