The endless talk of Alexander Isak signing for someone like Arsenal infuriates Newcastle United fans.
The 25-year-old has shown no desire to leave Newcastle United, but that has not stopped the media speculating that he is the missing piece of Arsenal’s jigsaw. It comes across as if the Magpies are entitled to simply hand a ‘big six’ club their superstar striker.
The media obsession hit a new low at the weekend. Alexander Isak scored a brace during Newcastle’s 3-1 win over Southampton, yet Arsenal were the topic of conversation on Sky Sports News.
Newcastle fans were furious with what reporter Mark McAdam said about Isak. In all honesty, it was pretty disrespectful.

Newcastle United do not think anyone can afford Alexander Isak
But while it is frustrating, it does not matter. The media cannot force Isak to sign for Arsenal, while Newcastle United know they are in a commanding position.
That is because, according to the Athletic, Newcastle United do not think that anyone can afford to pay the £100million+ that they would command for Isak.
A nine-figure sum would need to be offered for Toon officials to even think about letting the Sweden international. It has previously been claimed that Newcastle value Isak at £150million.
Isak transfer would be one of the biggest in history
Newcastle are currently in a commanding position, as Isak has a contract at St James’ Park until 2028.
On top of that, Newcastle are planning to offer Isak a new deal at the end of the season. By then, the Magpies will hopefully have the appeal of being a Champions League club once again.
European qualification could be the deciding factor for Isak, who certainly deserves to be playing at the highest level possible. Newcastle will hope and believe he can do that in a black and white shirt.
If the worst were to happen and Newcastle did end up selling the striker, it would prove to be one of the biggest transfers in football history.
There have only ever been eight players to cost more than £100million. If Isak is to leave Newcastle United, that will need to become nine.
However, the feeling is that Isak is simply out of reach for all his suitors. That will be music to the ears of Newcastle United fans.
