Newcastle United survived a late scare to beat Southampton on Saturday.
Newcastle had to fight back from behind they did more than enough to leave St Mary’s with all three points.
It was the exact response Newcastle fans and Eddie Howe would have wanted to see after their first loss in 10 games the week prior. Newcastle’s 4-1 loss to Bournemouth can be quickly forgotten about thanks to the 3-1 win on the south coast.
Alexander Isak’s brace put him on 17 Premier League goals for the season. Sandro Tonali became Newcastle’s eighth different goalscorer in the league this season when he found the net in the second half.
The game was not without controversy, however. Newcastle were deemed to have been ‘gifted’ a penalty for their first goal, although many fans will disagree.
Isak’s second goal was handed to him on a plate by Jacob Murphy who bagged his eighth league assist of the campaign – the most he has ever provided in a season for Newcastle.
Sandro Tonali then secured all three points with his lovely finish in the second half.
While Newcastle fans celebrated the second goal. There was a comment on Sky Sports that angered many. They took to social media to react.

Newcastle fans react to Sky Sports Alexander Isak comments
Isak is linked with a move to Arsenal, but Newcastle are reluctant to let him leave without a decent offer being placed.
Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell’s £150m valuation of Isak is a clear statement that they are not willing to let their star man go easily.
On Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, reporter Mark McAdam said “Isak is the man that so many Arsenal fans want the Gunners to sign and he is proving just why.”
Understandably, Newcastle fans were not happy with the choice of words considering the Magpies were not even playing Arsenal. They took to X to voice their displeasure.
“Genuinely think it’s disgraceful that he’s scored for his club and the first thing you think is to sell him off to Arsenal.” one fan wrote. While another said: “Very, very weird to mention Arsenal here.”
This fan took aim at Isak’s asking price, saying: “Can’t afford him – fact.”
Another fan added: “Honestly it’s doing my head in, the level of entitlement is off the scale.”
“Bonkers behaviour,” wrote one fan.
Finally, this fan said: “He’s a Newcastle player, not signing for Arsenal. Why do they keep bringing them up? It’s so so strange.”
Isak likened to Arsenal legend
Isak has been exceptional all season. He has been praised by players and pundits alike including Newcastle legend Alan Shearer who called Isak ‘class’.
Now, the Swede has been compared to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry by former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha after he scored his second of the game.
Talking to the BBC, he said: “Alexander Isak is giving me little vibes of Thierry Henry, to be honest. He’s looking so sharp right now.
“Those two finishes for those two goals make it seem like the easiest thing in the world. Credit to Jacob Murphy because it was a great ball into him.
“The guy is on fire, every time the ball goes to his feet, you’re expecting something to happen which says a lot for his ability.”
Arsenal fans will get another glimpse of Isak when they visit St James’ Park for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final which Newcastle have the advantage in.
