Adidas have released two Newcastle United kits ahead of the new season, and the third is on the way this week.

The Magpies are back with Adidas for the 2024/25 season after the German brand replaced Castore, and there has already been a huge clamour from fans to get their hands on the newest shirts.

The black and white home kit went down brilliantly with Newcastle fans, while the third kit landed during the Magpies’ tour of Japan.

Newcastle’s partnership with Adidas was a key reason in going to Japan, and it resulted in the club unveiling the third kit in Tokyo. It is a tribute to the past, with Adidas opting to use the old Newcastle United badge rather than the current crest. Newcastle fans’ reaction was mixed, as they prepare for one more jersey to be released.

Newcastle United’s Adidas away kit is coming on Tuesday

That release is on the horizon, with Newcastle United set to unveil their away kit for the 2024/25 season on Tuesday.

Ahead of its release, it has been heavily rumoured that Adidas are going to release yet another shirt that is inspired by the past.

Newcastle’s new away kit is expected to be burgundy and navy hoops, just like the iconic kit that the Magpies wore in the 1990s when Kevin Keegan was manager. It is one of the best shirts Newcastle United have ever had, and now it is rumoured to be coming back.

And based on a tweet from the club’s official X account, the rumours are very much true.

On Sunday night, Newcastle United tweeted the message ‘rolling it back’ alongside ’13/08/24′, which is the date that Adidas are going to unveil the new away kit.

And the post was accompanied by an image of David Ginola playing for Newcastle wearing that iconic away kit during the 1995/96 season.

Talk about laying it on thick…

Adidas have knocked it out of the park after reunited with Newcastle United

Newcastle have made it very clear what their away kit is going to be inspired by, as Adidas continue to pay tribute to the club’s past. That is certainly a good thing, as kits inspired by nostalgia always go down well.

It has only been a few months, but Newcastle’s reunion with Adidas has been outstanding. The kits for this season are fantastic, while the training gear is also pretty good.

Combine that with Adidas’ reputation and history on Tyneside and it is no surprise that Toon fans have shown a real willingness to splash the cash and buy the club’s new merchandise.
