Newcastle United have agreed several loan deals for the 2023/24 season. Here is a look at all of the Newcastle United loanees.

Eddie Howe has decided that some players aren’t ready for the first-team squad yet and some academy players simply need some more game time.

This is why after the January transfer window, Newcastle United now have 10 players actively on loan. Here’s how they’re all the Newcastle United loanees for the 23/24 season are getting on so far away from St James’ Park.

Harrison Ashby

Harrison Ashby made the move to Championship side Swansea City in August 2023 on a season-long loan.

The right-back was a regular in their first-team setup until he suffered another injury in February which has kept him out for over a month.

He’s looking to be out until around April.

Matty Bondswell

Matthew Bondswell was acquired for the season by League Two side – Newport County.

He’s been a regular for County – featuring 30 times, but only starting eight games. Not too bad.

Jamal Lewis

Left-back Jamal Lewis sought out some game time at Championship side – Watford.

He found just that. He’s become an absolute regular in the Hornets setup, locking down that full-back slot with over 2000 minutes played in England’s second flight this season.

Kell Watts

Centre-back Kelland Watts made the drop down to League One – where he found a new home for the season in Wigan Athletic.

He hasn’t exactly had the best time further up North. He hasn’t played since December.

Ryan Fraser

Ryan Fraser moved to Championship high-flyers Southampton for the season, hoping to rediscover form of old.

He’s getting there. He’s scored six goals and got two assists in just 12 starts – often utilised off the bench. They may want him permanently next season.

Rodrigo Vilca

Rodrigo Vilca is the first player to head abroad, with the U23s star opting for Vozdovac in the Serbian league.

Nothing to write home about. He’s only featured eight times. He may leave Newcastle next season.

Garang Kuol

Winger Garang Kuol moved to FC Volendam in the Eredivisie last summer.

They’re serial strugglers, currently in a relegation battle. The 19-year-old has only played 15 times, starting just eight games. He hasn’t played since February 2024.

Yankuba Minteh

Yankuba Minteh was sent to Feyenoord in the Eredivisie for the 23/24 season.

The Gambian has been one of their star performers, particularly in February where he won two Man of the Match awards on the bounce. He’s scored nine goals in total. Will he come back and play next season?

Michael Ndiweni

Michael Ndiweni moved to Annan Athletic in Scotland’s League One.

He hasn’t exactly set the country alight. He’s featured just 11 times and scoring twice.

Dylan Stephenson
