Newcastle United head into the international break in good form.
Eddie Howe’s side followed up their 4-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League on Wednesday with a vital three points in the Premier League on Sunday.
Indeed, Newcastle United beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 to ensure Howe goes into the break in club football in good spirits.
The Newcastle United manager should get some crucial time on the training pitch with players who are not away on international duty.
While it’s hardly ideal that most of the Newcastle United squad will be jetting off around the world on international duty, there’s little that can be done about it.
Newcastle will hope their big players avoid injury, with the problems piling for Howe right now.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United injury news and potential return dates.

Lewis Hall
Newcastle were dealt a blow regarding Lewis Hall before the Forest game.
Hall missed Newcastle’s win over Nottingham Forest with a hamstring injury, which was sustained during his brief cameo against USG on Wednesday.
It will also be a huge source of frustration for the player, too. The England international was brilliant last season but saw his campaign ended early by injury and things are yet to get going for him this time around.
After the Forest win, Howe confirmed: “He felt his hamstring against Union, which was a real blow for us.
“We’ve been trying to manage him back, as I said on Friday. Unfortunately, he just felt something in that game.
“We’ve had it scanned, but before we can get conclusive evidence of how long he’s going to be out, we need another rescan in about ten days. So, it’s not going to be a short-term injury, but we hope it’s not going to be a long-term injury. We sort of don’t know yet.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Tino Livramento
Tino Livramento is a reasonably long-term absentee for Newcastle, too.
While the news is better than what was initially feared when he was being stretchered off against Arsenal late last month, the England defender is still facing a while out.
Livramento isn’t expected back for around eight weeks following a knee injury.
Howe, speaking before the Forest game, confirmed: “He went to see a specialist, the scan initially looked better than we thought it was.
“The specialist confirmed it is an 8-week injury, which is a blow for us with the number of games we have in that period. It is a ligament injury and it will take time to recover.”
Potential return date: November/December 2025
Jacob Ramsey
Jacob Ramsey hasn’t played for the club since he was forced off against Leeds in August with an ankle injury.
Thankfully, however, the summer signing has returned to training.
He was technically available for selection against Forest but Howe has confirmed he didn’t want to risk the former Aston Villa star so early.
“He’s trained for two days, I just made the decision that I didn’t want to risk him and potentially set him back again,” he revealed.
“I want to give him the two weeks of the international break to make sure he’s ready for the next game.”
Potential return date: October 2025
Yoane Wissa
Yoane Wissa is surely Newcastle’s most painful absentee right now.
Yet to make his debut for the club, he was initially expected back in October after suffering a knee injury while playing for DR Congo in September.
Howe, however, confirmed that it was now more likely that Wissa would make his comeback in November.
“Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks [from the point of injury] rather than six,” he said.
“No recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.”
Potential return date: November 2025
