Newcastle United fans have been reacting after Park Seung-soo made his thrilling debut for the club against Team K League in the pre-season friendly.
A slog of a summer hit yet another speed bump for Newcastle United on Wednesday as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Team K League, a side made up of K League stars who had never played together before.
The only goal came in a terrible first-half display from Eddie Howe’s side, with Kim Jin-kyu grabbing the decisive strike in the 36th minute.
Newcastle fans were furious with the first-half performance and it didn’t improve much after the break, but they were finally given something to smile about when new signing Park Sung-soo came on with eight minutes to go.
The South Korean teenager was making his Newcastle debut after signing from Suwon Bluewings this summer and he has earned rave reviews from fans watching the game.

Newcastle United fans give verdict on Park Seung-soo after debut vs Team K League
Despite being brought on in the 82nd minute, Park still found time to completely steal the show and dazzle those watching, including the live crowd that was left cheering his every touch.
Mere seconds after coming on, the winger amazed fans in attendance with a jinking run that saw him beat three opponents and win a corner. Moments later, Park embarked on another run, which finally brought a dull game to life.
Park, wearing No.64, has made a great first impression on fans, who flocked to social media to shower him in praise and finally get excited about something this summer.
Taking to X, fan @danjpeg wrote: “That piece of skill by Park makes him our best player this game.”
Those thoughts were echoed by @GeordieSwede, who said: “Seung-Soo Park has done more in 4 nanoseconds than Willock and Gordon have all game.”
“Park has been on the ground for 5 minutes and he already looks better than the majority of them on the pitch,” @docjohnson09 agreed.
User @NUFCInsider was impressed quickly and posted: “Park Seung-soo is phenomenal.”
One excited fan @NUFC2025 said: “Give park that number 9 shirt Now!!!!!!”
That might be a bit too soon, but fans are certainly impressed, with @HoweWayTheLads writing: “Seung-soo park is a baller.”
What’s next for Park Seung-soo after debut?
Given Park’s debut is the first thing that has excited fans for months, it would make sense for him to get at least another chance to impress in the final game in his native South Korea on Sunday.
However, given that it’s against tougher opposition in Tottenham, Howe might look to play an even stronger side after Bruno Guimaraes, Harvey Barnes, Joelinton, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn and other starters did not play against Team K League.
But with three friendlies still remaining, including two at St. James’ Park in successive days, fans will hopefully get another glimpse of Park in action.
Before Park’s move was confirmed, it was expected that the prospect would head out on loan like fellow summer arrival Antonio Cordero is doing.
However, he could stay in England to help get his settled status and, if he continues to impress, nothing is stopping him from being a part of Howe’s plans.
