Newcastle United have reacted to some shocking news coming out of St James’ Park regarding the future of one of their players.
The Magpies will be in the Champions League next season thanks to a dramatic final day of the Premier League season, which saw them clinch qualification despite losing 1-0 to Everton at home.
At full time, the feeling in the stands was one of delight, but the news had not spread down to the pitch until Harvey Barnes informed his Newcastle United teammates they had qualified.
After that, the stadium erupted and the players began to celebrate on the pitch. Champions League qualification means Newcastle can keep Alexander Isak and are likely to sign several new big names this summer.
Bruno Guimaraes called for Newcastle to improve the squad this summer, but fans have been surprised by the news that a player who looked destined to leave will be given a new deal before any signings are made.

Newcastle United offer new deal to Callum Wilson
Callum Wilson has had a poor season for Newcastle, failing to score in any of his Premier League appearances. The 33-year-old is out of contract this summer, and it looked like he was set to leave the club on a free transfer.
However, it has since been reported that Wilson has been offered a new deal at Newcastle after the club opted not to take up the option in his existing contract. The new deal would place Wilson on a more incentive-based contract.
While Wilson’s final decision on his Newcastle future is yet to be made, fans have taken to social media to share their views on the news.
“Osula did more in 6 minutes than Wilson has done all season. This is a tragic decision.” said one fan, while another added: “If we keep Wilson here then whoever is responsible for that decision should lose his job.”
This Newcastle fan highlighted Wilson’s age and drop in form: “This is ridiculous, it’s time to go, Callum has been a good servant but he’s finished.”
“He has had his day, we appreciate it, time to move on now which is the nature of the sport. We can’t keep this type of mentality if we want to win anything major.” said this shocked Newcastle fan.
Another supporter added: “Most of the season we’d have 24-man squads because he’s injured most of the time.”
Finally, this fan said: “This painfully reminds me of the‘ Carroll ‘you play you get paid’ contract under Ashley/Bruce.”

Callum Wilson could halt progress of Newcastle United ace with new deal
Wilson has spent five brilliant years at the club, but it is clear he is not at the same level he was when he first joined the club. The 33-year-old found his best form in the 2022/23 season, helping Newcastle qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, but his contributions to their success this season have been minimal.
Newcastle want to sign a new striker this summer, but Wilson’s new deal could throw a spanner in the works for possible deals. Reports have recently stated Newcastle are interested in Joao Pedro from Brighton this summer, having failed to sign him nearly three years ago.
If Wilson signs a new deal, there is a chance he could hinder the progress of new arrivals and even players who are already at the club. William Osula has shown glimpses of promise in the team this season, but has yet to be given his big chance in the starting XI.
Having Wilson in the team puts Osula at risk of falling even further behind in the pecking order next season, which could see him question his future on Tyneside.
