Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has named his Premier League team of the week, and unsurprisingly it includes Toon striker Alexander Isak.
Shearer has picked Isak in his side for the second week in a row, with the Newcastle striker currently boasting three goals in his previous two games.
He has replaced Callum Wilson in Eddie Howe’s starting XI, and has justified the manager’s decision. The 23-year-old was outstanding against Wolves where he scored a header, then he was even better in the win over Nottingham Forest.
Isak netted a brace at the City Ground, scoring more than once in a game for the first time since joining the Magpies in August. He played brilliantly, with teammate Joe Willock comparing him to Premier League icon Thierry Henry.
The £63million man now has six Premier League goals, and his recent efforts have propelled Newcastle right back into the top four conversation.
Howe’s side are currently fifth, but are just three points behind third-placed Manchester United.

As part of his team of the week on the Premier League’s official website, Shearer has made a big claim about Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League.
He wrote: “In a team that’s been struggling to score goals, Isak can provide the firepower to push Newcastle back into the top four.”
No pressure on the Newcastle striker
It is a big claim from Shearer, who is clearly impressed with the Sweden international.
He has been crucial in our previous two games, with six points from a possible six changing the mood after a disappointing run of results.
Isak’s efforts have put us firmly back in the mix, and we are now nicely placed to take the race for Champions League qualification down to the wire.
Newcastle have 12 games to go after the international break, and if Isak can carry on this exceptional form then we will have a great chance of finishing in the top four.
